I wanted to let you know that our family all arrived without difficulty in Nairobi yesterday afternoon, since the situation in Ethiopia became too hot. We have plans for a place to stay through Dec 3, and will assess the situation as we go to see whether to return to ET (if the problem resolves adequately), stay in Kenya longer, go to the US, or something else. The trip has not been overly traumatic for our family and we will try to make it like a vacation (though our children understand why we are here). I will mostly be telecommuting. We have brought our most precious things with us in case our apartment gets looted, as has happened in recent weeks with about half the hospitals the front has passed over. We also were able to celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving dinner that Lori put on for all our Korean missionary colleagues on Wednesday evening (things on the ground in AA have not changed much thus far). We remember God’s bounteous eternal provision though the local circumstances in ET are certainly concerning.

Please do pray especially much these days, knowing that the church has been praying for us all along. In particular, that the development God has provided for our work (which has done well, accomplishing many of the original goals already, by His grace) would not be undone. And also for the safety of our many ET friends, partners, and colleagues who remain. And the best for the country, the second-largest in Africa. Basically all western missionaries already have evacuated, though our Korean missionary colleagues have a somewhat later threshold for evacuation. There is a currently ongoing potentially decisive battle right now just beyond shelling range from the airport (a factor in our decision to leave yesterday), please pray for the best outcome for the country! Although there might be ongoing conflicts either way, probably more likely if the rebels prevail.
교회가 그동안 우리를 위해 기도해 왔다는 것을 알기에 특히 요즘 많이 기도해 주십시오. 특히, 하나님께서 우리의 일을 위해 마련하신 발전(이미 하나님의 은혜로 많은 본래의 목표를 성취하여 잘 해낸 것)은 취소되지 않을 것입니다. 또한 남아 있는 많은 ET 친구, 파트너 및 동료의 안전을 위해서도 마찬가지입니다. 그리고 아프리카에서 두 번째로 큰 국가를 위한 최고입니다. 기본적으로 모든 서구 선교사들은 이미 대피했지만 우리 한국 선교사들은 대피의 문턱이 다소 늦었습니다. 공항에서 포격 범위를 넘어 현재 잠재적으로 결정적인 전투가 진행 중입니다(어제 떠나기로 결정한 요인). 국가의 최상의 결과를 위해 기도해 주십시오! 어느 쪽이든 지속적인 갈등이 있을 수 있지만 반군이 승리할 경우 더 가능성이 높습니다.
